The Sindh government has decided to introduce a facial-recognition attendance system for teaching and non-teaching employees to improve monitoring and reduce absenteeism in the Education Department.
Under the planned system, staff attendance will be recorded digitally, making it easier for authorities to identify employees who regularly remain absent from duty.
Degree Verification Also Underway
The department is also examining cases involving employees suspected of holding fake or unverified academic qualifications.
According to reports, the National Accountability Bureau has started verifying the degrees of Education Department employees recruited between 1989 and 2020.
Around 15,000 teaching and non-teaching employees have reportedly applied for early retirement, creating administrative and financial pressure for the provincial government.
The new attendance system is intended to improve accountability, maintain accurate staff records and ensure that employees are present at their assigned schools and offices.
