9th Class Position Holders Punjab Boards 2026 — Full Toppers List
All 9 Punjab boards in one place: Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Sahiwal, DG Khan and Bahawalpur.
We update each board within 2 hours of the official position-holder ceremony.
Every year, thousands of 9th class students in Punjab wait for one thing after the result — the list of position holders. These are the students who score the highest marks in their board and win the 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions. Getting your name on that list is a big deal. Your school celebrates, your parents hand out sweets, and the board gives you a cash prize and a certificate.
This page keeps the toppers list for all nine Punjab boards in one place. You don’t have to open nine different websites. Pick your board below, and you’ll find the top three students, their marks, their school and their group. If your board hasn’t announced the list yet, you’ll see exactly when to expect it.
One honest note before we start. Not every Punjab board publishes a separate 9th class topper list every year. Some boards announce only the Matric (10th class) toppers. So instead of copying fake names like a few other sites do, we only show names that the board itself confirms. Where a board hasn’t released the list, we tell you plainly and update it the day the result comes out. That way you can trust what you read here.
When Will 9th Class Position Holders 2026 Be Announced?
The 9th class annual exams for Punjab boards started on 17 April 2026. Going by the usual pattern, the result is set for around 2 September 2026, and all nine boards declare it on the same day and the same time. The position holders are announced at a prize-distribution ceremony, normally one working day before the result is made public. So plan for around 1 September 2026, in the evening.
Here is the expected schedule and the SMS code for each board, so you can also check your own result by text message the minute it goes live.

How Punjab Boards Decide the Position Holders
A lot of students think a position holder is just “the one with the most marks.” That’s mostly true, but there’s a little more to it. Here’s how the boards pick the top three.
Total marks and the score that counts
The 9th class exam in Punjab is marked out of 550 (a few boards count 555 with the Translation of the Holy Quran paper). The student with the highest total wins 1st position, the next highest takes 2nd, and the third highest takes 3rd. Practical marks in science subjects are added to the total too, so don’t ignore your practicals.
Science group and Humanities (Arts) group
Most boards announce positions for the two main groups separately. Science group students take Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Computer Science, while Arts students take subjects like Civics or General Science. Because the subjects are different, the boards usually keep two lists so the competition stays fair.
What happens in a tie
Sometimes two students get exactly the same marks. When that happens, the board can give the same position to both — that’s why you’ll sometimes see two students sharing 1st position. There is no “fail the tie” rule; both names go on the list.
Checking and approval
Before any name is made public, the board’s controller of examinations rechecks the top answer sheets. This is why position holders are announced a little after the normal result — the board wants to be 100% sure of the numbers. If any unfair means are found later, the position can be cancelled.

9th Class Position Holders 2021 to 2025 — The Honest Record
People often search for last year’s toppers, so here’s the real picture for 2021 to 2025. We’ll be straight with you: Punjab boards have not released a clean, separate 9th class top-three list for every board in every one of these years. For example, the Lahore Board did not announce 9th class position holders for the 2024 session at all. Many boards put their energy into the Matric (10th class) ceremony instead.
So we won’t paste random names just to fill the table. Below, every board and year is marked either with a board-confirmed name or with a clear “Not officially released” note. As old records are verified, we add them.
| Year | Board | 1st Position | 2nd Position | 3rd Position |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2025 | All Punjab boards (9th) | No separate board-confirmed 9th class top-three list was published for most boards. | ||
| 2024 | BISE Lahore (9th) | Not announced — the board did not release 9th class position holders for 2024. | ||
| 2024 | Other Punjab boards (9th) | Not officially released to the public. | ||
| 2023 | All Punjab boards (9th) | No verified board-wide top-three list available. | ||
| 2022 | All Punjab boards (9th) | No verified board-wide top-three list available. | ||
| 2021 | All Punjab boards (9th) | No verified board-wide top-three list available. | ||
How to Find Your Name in the Position Holders List
If you think you did really well and want to check whether you made the top three, here are three easy ways.
- Open your board’s official website. On result day each board posts a “Position Holders” or “Toppers” notice. Look for the 9th class (SSC Part 1) section and your group (Science or Arts).
- Search the result gazette PDF. Boards release a gazette file with all toppers. Open it on a laptop, press Ctrl + F (or use “Find on page” on your phone) and type your name or roll number.
- Watch the local news or PTV coverage. The prize-distribution ceremony is often shown on TV and reported by newspapers. The top names usually appear there first.
Prizes, Cash Awards and Scholarships for Position Holders
Becoming a position holder is not just about the certificate. The Punjab Government runs a cash-prize scheme for board toppers, and the amounts are bigger than most people expect.
The teachers are rewarded too. Under the same scheme, the teacher of a 1st position student gets around Rs 200,000, and the teacher of a 2nd position student gets about Rs 150,000. On top of the cash, position holders usually receive:
- A board medal and an official certificate of merit.
- A spot in the Punjab laptop scheme for high achievers, depending on the year’s policy.
- Offers of free or discounted admission from top colleges who want strong students.
- Recognition at school and division-level functions.

Not every hard-working student gets a position, and that’s okay. The difference between 1st place and 50th place can be a couple of marks. If your result wasn’t what you hoped for, you have real options. You can apply for rechecking within the board’s deadline, you can sit the supplementary exam to improve weak subjects, and you can focus your energy on 10th class — because the combined Matric result is what colleges really look at.
Plenty of people who never topped 9th class went on to do brilliantly in life. Use this year as a base, not a final verdict.
