KP Launches Summer Learning and Grooming Festival for Government School Students

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Elementary and Secondary Education Department has announced a Summer Learning and Grooming Festival for government school students, offering a blend of academic enrichment, leadership training, and extracurricular activities during the summer vacations.

The initiative will be implemented in phases, with approximately 2,000 students from Grades 6 to 12 participating in the first phase.

First Phase to Cover 19 Districts

According to the Education Department, students from 19 districts across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including the province’s southern and merged districts, will take part in the inaugural phase of the program.

Participants will attend residential summer camps in:

  • Swat
  • Mansehra
  • Abbottabad

The camps aim to provide students with educational and personal development opportunities in a structured residential environment.

Program Focus

The Summer Learning and Grooming Festival has been designed to support students’ overall development through a mix of educational and recreational activities.

The program will include:

  • Academic enrichment sessions
  • Leadership development
  • Personality grooming
  • Team-building exercises
  • Sports activities
  • Adventure programs
  • Cultural interaction
  • Creative learning workshops
  • Recreational events

Officials say the initiative seeks to promote both academic growth and essential life skills.

Focus on Students from Underserved Areas

During a briefing on the festival, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Elementary and Secondary Education Minister Arshad Ayub Khan said the program is intended to provide students with opportunities beyond the traditional classroom.

He noted that many talented students, particularly those from southern and merged districts, have limited access to leadership and extracurricular programs.

According to the minister, the festival will help participants:

  • Build self-confidence
  • Develop leadership skills
  • Improve communication abilities
  • Interact with students from different regions
  • Gain broader educational exposure

Safety and Quality Emphasized

The minister directed all concerned authorities to ensure high standards of:

  • Camp management
  • Student safety
  • Accommodation
  • Hospitality
  • Overall program quality

He stressed that every aspect of the camps should be carefully planned to provide students with a safe, comfortable, and rewarding learning experience.

Why This Matters

The Summer Learning and Grooming Festival reflects a growing emphasis on holistic education, combining classroom learning with leadership, creativity, and personal development. By targeting students from government schools—particularly those in underserved districts—the initiative aims to broaden educational opportunities, foster confidence, and equip young learners with skills that extend beyond academics.
