The Sindh government has announced plans to modernize the province’s examination system by introducing e-marking and digital technologies across all educational boards.
The proposal was discussed during a high-level meeting between Sindh Minister for Universities and Boards Muhammad Ismail Rahoo and representatives of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
Shift Toward Digital Examinations
The modernization initiative aims to replace the traditional manual marking system with a digital e-marking process designed to improve transparency, efficiency, and accuracy in examinations.
According to officials, the project seeks to streamline the assessment process while reducing human errors associated with manual paper checking.
Modern Equipment to Be Procured
To support the digital transformation, the government plans to procure modern examination infrastructure, including:
- High-speed scanners
- Paper cutting machines
- Secure servers
- Other digital processing equipment
The new infrastructure will help automate paper scanning, marking, and result processing.
Training for Board Staff
As part of the project, IT experts will provide specialized training to staff working in Sindh’s educational boards.
The training will focus on:
- E-marking procedures
- Digital examination management
- Data processing
- Operation of the new technology and equipment
The objective is to ensure a smooth transition from manual to digital systems.
Cabinet Approval to Be Sought
Minister Muhammad Ismail Rahoo said the government intends to bring Sindh’s examination system closer to international standards.
He confirmed that the proposal will be presented to the Sindh Cabinet for final approval before implementation begins.
Karachi Board Chairman Named Focal Person
The government has appointed Faqir Muhammad Lakho, Chairman of the Karachi Intermediate Board, as the focal person responsible for overseeing the implementation of the project.
He will coordinate efforts related to the rollout of the new examination system.
