The Directorate of College Education Karachi has directed teaching and non-teaching employees at government colleges to follow a formal dress code during working hours.
Under the circular, staff members are prohibited from wearing T-shirts, jeans, tight-fitting clothes, slippers and fancy sunglasses while on duty.
Formal Clothing Required
Male teachers have been advised to wear full-sleeved shirts with formal trousers or traditional shalwar kameez. The instructions particularly emphasise appropriate attire for male staff working at government girls’ colleges.
Female teachers have been asked to wear modest and professional clothing suited to an academic environment.
Teaching staff have also been advised to wear academic gowns and formal shoes while delivering lectures.
Principals Told to Enforce Rules
Non-teaching employees must wear clean and official attire appropriate to their responsibilities.
Principals of all government colleges in Karachi have been directed to circulate the instructions and ensure compliance. Employees violating the dress code may face action under government and departmental rules.
