The Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (PEIRA) has given private schools in Islamabad a final deadline of:
📅 June 30, 2026
to submit details of students admitted under the mandatory 10% need-based scholarship quota.
The authority warned that schools failing to comply may face regulatory action.
Scholarship Quota Mandatory Under Education Law
The requirement is part of the:
📚 Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2012
which requires private educational institutions in Islamabad to reserve:
🎓 10% of admissions
for deserving and underprivileged students.
According to PEIRA, many schools have still not submitted the required scholarship information despite repeated notices.
Non-Compliant Schools May Face Restrictions
PEIRA stated that schools failing to provide the data by the deadline could face several consequences, including:
- Restriction of registration services
- Suspension of renewal facilities
- Publication of names on PEIRA’s official website
- Sharing of non-compliance details with examination boards
Officials said these measures are intended to ensure implementation of the scholarship provisions.
Out-of-School Children to Get Priority
The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by PEIRA Chairman:
👤 Dr. Ghulam Ali Mallah
According to the authority, children identified during enrollment campaigns and currently out of school will receive priority under the scholarship scheme.
Officials said the initiative is aimed at improving access to education for children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Complying Schools to Receive Appreciation
PEIRA also announced that institutions already fulfilling the scholarship requirement will receive:
📜 Letters of appreciation
in recognition of their contribution to educational inclusion and support for deserving students.
The authority has urged all private schools in Islamabad to submit the required information before June 30 to avoid regulatory action and ensure compliance with the law.
